Contest Guidelines

I. ELIGIBILITY

1. Must be between the ages of 12 and 18 at time of entry.
2. One (1) entry per person.
3. The photograph you submit must be an original photograph by you.
4. Digital photographs should be in .jpg, .jpeg, or .gif format and between 2 to 3 MB.

II. TERM

The contest will begin at 5:00 p.m. EST on October 24, 2008, and end at 4:59 p.m. EST on April 30, 2009.

III. FINALISTS

There will be a total of 12 finalists. For each program focus area there will be an "overall best photo" and two honorable mentions. Winners will be notified within two weeks of the April 30 deadline.

IV. JUDGING

Entries will be judged on the basis of creativity, photographic quality, and effectiveness in conveying a compelling vision of social justice, inspired by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

V. PRIZES

Four winners of "overall best photo" will receive $50 and a youth membership to UUSC. Those receiving an honorable mention will receive a youth membership to UUSC. All 12 winning photos will be compiled in a book and given to contest winners.

VI. OWNERSHIP/USE RIGHTS

UUSC reserves the right to publish your photo. All entries may be used in UUSC's online and print publications. Photos will not be returned. Please do not send in your only copy of a photo.
