Date this position was adopted by UUSC:
Friday, June 5, 2009
UUSC signed on to a letter to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, introducing the InterAction Gender-based Violence (GBV) working
group and outlining our recommendations for a comprehensive response to the
global problem of gender-based violence.
Purpose: The purpose of this action was to introduce the Interaction Gender-based Violence (GBV) working group to Secretary Clinton, asking her to look on us as a resource and providing recommendations about how to combat gender-based violence based on the experience of the organizations involved. It also commended her for her work on gender in the past and asked her to make a commitment to hold perpetrators accountable to U.N. Security Council Resolution 1820 and strengthen the protection of women and girls by supporting the International Violence Against Women Act.
