Learn more about Building Bridges.

How have Muslims, Arabs, and South Asians in the Seattle area been affected by the erosion of civil liberties since September 2001? How can local Unitarian-Universalist, Muslim, and other members of the Seattle-area community come together as allies to create a more just and supportive society?

Join us for a daylong bridge-building workshop to learn about the civil-liberties violations happening at the local and national level. During the afternoon, we will brainstorm effective ways to address these violations.

The workshop has been planned by a diverse group of participants, including members from the following organizations:

  • American Muslims of Puget Sound
  • Council on American Islamic Relations
  • East Shore Unitarian Church
  • Edmonds Unitarian Universalist Church
  • Muslim Association of Puget Sound
  • University Unitarian Church

Presenters include representatives from the American Civil Liberties Union, local religious leaders, and national civil-liberties organizations. James Yee, former Muslim chaplain at Guantanamo Bay, will deliver a keynote speech.

Don’t miss this important day of discussion, learning, and relationship building. Please register for this event at Brown Paper Tickets. For more information, please contact Anna Bartlett of UUSC at abartlett@uusc.org or 617-301-4367 or Pete Guest of Seattle at averyguest@gmail.com or 206-601-2708.
