SoilFarm Multi-Culture Group (SFMG)

The SoilFarm Multi-Culture Group is an agriculture-based organization in the Kakamega district of western Kenya. The organization is a group of human-rights defenders, forest peoples, who have been imprisoned and endured severe opposition for many years due to their work to defend Kenya's last remaining rainforest from development in the 1980s and 1990s.

Its Hope in Crops project is an agro-forestry project that provides members of the group with income-generating livelihoods while protecting the forest and environment. It helps to fix carbon by tree planting of native species, provides food security for community members, and eradicates poverty. SoilFarm works with schools on the project to ensure the next generation takes care of the forest.
