The Unitarian Universalist Service
Committee is accepting nominations for the Social Action Leadership
Award,
the Mary-Ella Holst Youth Activist Award, and the Seminarian Award for
Excellence in Social Justice for 2007. The deadline for nominations is
March 31, 2007.
Each award
winner will receive a cash award of $500 and will be honored at the General
Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Association, to be held June 20-24,
2007, in Portland, Ore.
The Social Action Leadership Award honors creative, inspiring,
and effective leadership by an individual or group working for justice. The
recipient(s) must have demonstrated an outstanding model of committed and
effective action on UUSC programs, priorities, and public policy positions.
The Mary-Ella Holst Youth Activist Award recognizes and honors
the achievement of an individual or group of youth who are advancing human
rights and social justice through activism and leadership. Recipient(s) must
have demonstrated a commitment to social justice and human rights through
participation in a UUSC program of service, action, and/or advocacy.
The Seminarian Award for Excellence in Social Justice
recognizes and honors the exemplary work of a seminarian who advances the
mission of UUSC by linking and integrating the work of UUSC with the
Principles and Purposes of the UUA and the spiritual lives of UUs.
