Collecting and sending in donationsClick here for printer-friendly version

Encourage all members to convert their cash to checks before bringing their boxes back to church.

Mail donations, along with the completed tally sheet, to:

UUSC, Guest at Your Table
P.O. Box 835259
Boston, MA 02283-5259

Be sure to complete the tally sheet.

UUSC must receive the tally sheet, completed, in order to acknowledge donors’ contributions and to credit membership. Guest at Your Table donations are tax deductible. UUSC can credit donors with membership only if we are able to acknowledge their contributions. Please be sure to include donors’ full names, contact information, donation amount, and membership type if they are to be credited with senior or youth membership levels.

More information about how to complete the Tally Sheet can be found on the form itself. New this year is an Electronic Tally Sheet ... no more photocopying!

Be sure to send in donations promptly. This is especially important if you have been given checks to UUSC. Your members will expect  these checks to be processed in a timely manner.

It’s OK to send in donations in separate groups. If you have not received contributions from one or two people, it’s OK to send in the contributions you’ve got along with a completed Tally Sheet. Just send in contributions as you receive them, making sure to include the proper information.

Make announcements. Plan on reminding people to bring in their boxes at least on the two Sundays prior to your collection date, and again on the following two Sundays, if need be.

Be sure to publish reminders about your Guest boxes in your congregation's newsletter and order of service during the week before, the week of, and the week following your Guest at Your Table box collection. Here is a sample, published by UUSC Local Rep Casey Gilmore, December 2006, in the Main Line Unitarian Church order of service.

Bring Your Box Back
If you've enjoyed having a guest at your table and talking with your children about helping others around the world, the time has come to say goodbye to your guest. After both services, [church member's name] will collect the Guest at Your Table boxes. To make box collection go smoothly, we ask that you write a check for the amount of money collected and return your box with the check inside. Fill out the membership panel on the box to join the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (youth membership $10; general membership $40; to qualify for a UU Shelter Rock match $100). Forget your box? Bring it next week.
No Box?
If teaching children about human rights is no longer (or never has been) one of your responsibilities, that doesn't mean you don't care about creating justice around the world. Please stop by the box collection area to join the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee. Senior membership is $20; general membership is $40; and $100 donations and up will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the UU Congregation at Shelter Rock.
