“A nation that
continues year after year to spend more money on military defense
than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death.”
–Martin Luther King, Jr.

Save the date for Justice Sunday 2008!
Sunday, March 30, 2008
In the year of the 40th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s
assassination, his words continue to ring true. We will honor his
legacy by restoring justice for the people of the United States of
America, and for the people of Iraq.
Justice Sunday 2008 will empower congregants to become more active
participants in our nation’s democracy while honoring Dr. King’s
dream.
The war in Iraq has drained this nation’s resources, creating a
humanitarian crisis in Iraq, and leaving a multitude needs at home
unmet – including the disgraceful lack of resources and commitment
to rebuild the Gulf Coast.
UUSC provides all Justice Sunday resources free of charge.
Resources can be downloaded here, and have been mailed
to each congregation and UUSC local representative. Access resources
now using the links in the sidebar on the right.
Simple Steps for Justice, the centerpiece of Justice Sunday,
will help congregants educate, act, and speak out. Resources will
educate with the facts about the Gulf Coast, Iraq, and our nation’s
priorities. Actions will engage all ages in making a difference.
Questions will help voters speak out to hold political candidates
accountable.
