Redirect the Rebate

Imagine a world where taxpayers can choose to fund peacemaking instead of war, where strengthening our nation means investing in peace. UUSC wants to stimulate peace – and we need your help.

If you’re a U.S. taxpayer, a $600 economic stimulus payment from the U.S. government is now on its way to you. Did you know that according to the National Priorities Project, a nonprofit research group, $252 of your payment would have gone to fund the Bush Administration’s military program?

Now you have the chance to give that $252 a rational objective – peace.

UUSC is inviting fellow peacemakers to make a one-time stimulus investment of $252 in human rights and social justice around the world. We can create real change if we redirect the rebate.

By redirecting these war dollars to UUSC, you support

  • Active-duty U.S. military personnel speaking out against the Iraq war and the U.S. occupation;

  • Iraq war veterans calling for congressional investigations and hearings into military abuses;

  • Women and girls in Darfur who risk their safety each time they leave their camp for firewood and water;

  • Ugandans who, after 20 years of war, are finally returning to their villages.

Investing in peace will create a domino effect that will transform lives. What is it worth to you?

Redirect the rebate. Give $252 for peace. Please make your investment in peace at any level now.

What Is the Economic Stimulus Payment?

The U.S. Treasury is sending economic stimulus payments to more than 130 million households. To receive a payment, taxpayers must have a valid Social Security number, at least $3,000 of income, and have filed a 2007 federal income tax return. Eligible people will receive up to $600 ($1,200 for married couples), and parents will receive an additional $300 for each eligible child younger than 17.
