Justice Sunday 2013

Justice Is Choosing Compassionate Consumption

UUSC works to advance rights for workers in the food system.

Justice Sunday 2013 focuses on upholding the inherent worth and dignity of every person through our power as consumers, specifically by protecting the rights of workers in the food system. Workers have the right to work in a safe environment, receive fair wages, and organize with dignity. Together with UUSC, you can act on a deep commitment to ethical eating and change the national conversation about how to create a truly sustainable food system.

The Justice Sunday program provides learning, advocacy, and action resources to help you explore this issue of economic justice. In addition, there are reflection resources, including a sample worship service to help you culminate Justice Sunday with a spiritual connection to this vital work. We encourage congregations to engage with the theme over several weeks, to provide a meaningful cycle of reflection, understanding, and action. The suggested date for a culminating worship is March 24, 2013 — but we encourage you to plan the program for the range of dates that best suits your congregational calendar.

Planning and participation resources are available now, and more will be added to the Justice Sunday website as the program unfolds. If you have questions about planning your program, contact us at volunteerservices@uusc.org.
