Constance F. Kane

Constance F. Kane has had a long career in the human-rights field and came to UUSC with extensive experience in programs to improve the lives of people around the world. As vice president and chief operating officer, she manages the day-to-day activities of the organization, overseeing the implementation of UUSC's strategic plan to fulfill its mission to advance human rights at home and internationally.

Prior to joining UUSC, Kane served in senior management positions in the Africa Division of World Education, Boston, and with Oxfam America, Boston. Previously, she lived and worked on sustainable development and reducing global poverty projects in Japan, Indonesia, and Malaysia in Asia. She also lived for three years in Cairo, Egypt, where she completed her doctoral-degree research by comparing Egypt and Israel in their methods of social-service delivery.

She is a graduate of Western College in Oxford, Ohio, and has a master's degree in social planning from Boston College and a PhD in social welfare policy from Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass.
