2009 Outstanding Local Representative Award Winner

Through consistent advocacy efforts, Sue has raised awareness in her congregation of human-rights and social-justice issues. Recently, she organized participation in the Tents of Hope project, leading her congregation in creating a colorful tent that helped to educate people about the terrible conditions facing displaced women and girls in Darfur. Responding quickly to the crisis in Gaza, Sue held a special campaign to support UUSC's Gaza Humanitarian Crisis Fund. Regular articles by Sue in the church newsletter keep UUSC in the forefront at her Sarasota church.
When Sue was recently awarded two congregational awards, she received a standing ovation from church members, who greatly appreciate her efforts. UUSC Volunteer Regional Coordinator Jeff Harper says, "Sue does everything an outstanding local representative is expected to do, and she does it with dedication, enthusiasm, and humility." Sue has been a wonderful volunteer for UUSC for many years. She will continue to be an inspiring leader in years to come.
UUSC is pleased to recognize Sue Sherman and her dedicated work on behalf of UUSC with this year's Outstanding Local Representative Award.
