Islamic Relief, Palestine

Islamic Relief is an international nongovernmental organization founded in the United Kingdom in 1984. It has consultative status with the U.N. Economic and Social Council and is a member of the International Islamic Council for Relief. Islamic Relief has offices and representatives around the world, all helping to achieve economic prosperity and social development in low-income countries through relief and developmental programs in partnership with local communities. Islamic Relief works to help people in need without regard to race, religion, or gender. Islamic Relief has been active in Palestine since 1998 and has offices in Gaza City and Ramallah. Its major programmatic foci include emergency relief, economic development, and child welfare. Islamic Relief has also been working to rehabilitate partially damaged homes in Gaza following Operation Cast Lead.
