Salote Soqo

Director of Advocacy, Global Displacement

As Director of Advocacy, Global Displacement, Salote Soqo leads and strengthens UUSC’s advocacy framework. This framework is grounded in the needs and priorities of the most directly affected communities and leverages UUSC’s strategic assets to collectively influence policies, laws, and practices. She has done extensive work in the Pacific Islands and coastal communities in the United States.

Before joining UUSC, Salote worked as a regional program coordinator in water equity and climate justice for the Environmental Justice Coalition for Water (EJCW). She was also the climate and carbon management fellow with EJCW and the Carbon Cycle Institute (CCI); prior to that, she worked as an environmental consultant in Fiji.

Salote attained her undergraduate degrees from the Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand and the University of the South Pacific in Fiji. She also holds a graduate degree in environmental management from the University of San Francisco.
