Much-Needed Relief for Refugees

September 18, 2015

Thanks to the generosity of our dedicated supporters, the UUSC-UUA Refugee Crisis Fund has raised more than $115,000 so far! Through UUSC’s Rights at Risk Program, these funds will make it possible to address human rights violations against refugees and asylum seekers that are fueled by border restrictions, shortsighted immigration controls, and other nationalistic policies.

In the Middle East and Europe, UUSC’s response to the Syrian refugee crisis examines critical areas along the Syrian refugee migration route, where there is a lack of international protection, cooperation, burden sharing, and upholding the basic human rights of the displaced.

What your donations will do

With your support, UUSC will work directly with partners in host and transit countries to provide the following:

  • Effective protection for refugees and access to legal avenues for relief
  • Capacity building for overburdened nongovernmental organizations on the ground working with vulnerable groups such as women, children, and stateless refugees
  • Advocacy for medium- to long-term relief needs: education access, asylum policy and procedure, and positive public reception to resettlement

In the United States, UUSC is working to ensure that the U.S. government lives up to its international obligations to protect those most vulnerable in situations of conflict.

Stay tuned for further details on UUSC’s work to support refugees during this time of crisis.
