Fill out the form to pledge your commitment to take action to combat climate change and learn more about UUSC’s work to address climate-forced displacement here. We are excited to have you join us in this effort!

I recognize that the Earth is no longer in a period of climate change, but climate crisis. This crisis is advancing rapidly, displacing millions of people each year because of natural disasters and threatening millions more through slow-onset climate devastation. Across the globe, the worst effects of the crisis have not fallen on the wealthy governments and corporations that have made the largest contribution to climate change, but on communities that have been historically and systematically oppressed due to racism and colonialism.

Nevertheless, our communities are not powerless in the face of this crisis. Collectively, we have the chance to respond with bold and hopeful action. I recognize the contributions that I, as a person of faith and conscience, am called to make in this critical moment.

In order to live respectfully with the Earth and its shared communities and meaningfully confront this crisis, I pledge to:

  • Stay educated on climate change and its impacts and respond to opportunities to engage with my elected officials at all levels, encouraging them to pass and enact laws that curb global warming and mitigate its effects.
  • Support the immediate end to the destruction and desecration of our natural resources, whether through individual measures or community action.
  • Follow the lead of most affected communities, in particular First and Indigenous Peoples, people of color, women, people living with disabilities and youth, who disproportionately face effects of climate change and are leading this work with radical vision.
