UUSC Responds to Escalating Crisis in Haiti

Challenging Injustice, Advancing Human Rights

The Unitarian Universalist Service Committee advances human rights through grassroots collaborations.

Solidarity and shelter for LGBTQ immigrants

Together with our partner, the Queer Detainee Empowerment Project (QDEP), we played an integral role in supporting the #Rainbow16 Trans-Gay Migrant Caravan – a group of transwomen and gay men fleeing violence in Mexico.

When the caravan arrived at the U.S. border, QDEP was there to offer immediate aid, while UUSC mobilized congregations and individuals to provide emergency housing to these asylum seekers, some of whom were released on bond. Read more about QDEP’s incredible efforts to support the caravan and the Love Resists movement (link to Love Resists initiative section).
