Challenging Injustice, Advancing Human Rights

Coco Maceren

Associate for Engagement and Communications

Coco Maceren joined UUSC in January 2019 as the Associate for Engagement and Communications. She provides administrative support for the Advocacy, Organizing, and Strategic Communications team, and also assists with communications including media relations, social media engagement, and content creation.

For three years, Coco worked as a lifestyle journalist for one of the Philippines’ newspapers. Her background focused more on youth and pop culture with a focus on music, fashion, and beauty. After realizing that she wanted a more global perspective, she moved from the Philippines to Boston to pursue higher education. Here, she became active in hackathons and had an interest in working with nonprofits that improve the lives of oppressed people. It was her move between countries that kindled her desire for social justice. Coco decided to transition careers and use her skills and background in communications and the arts to advance UUSC’s mission.

Coco earned her bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts from De La Salle University in Manila and her Master of Science in International Marketing from Hult International Business School in Cambridge, MA. She hopes to one day earn a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge in the U.K. to fulfill her lifelong dream. She already believes that she’s halfway there.
