Leonardo Valenzuela Pérez


Leonardo Valenzuela Pérez joined UUSC in December 2018 to support the organization’s research program and collaboratively strengthen the research capacities of its partners.

Leonardo’s previous professional experience includes research and teaching in Chile, Australia, and the Finnish Arctic, focusing on matters of human rights and environmental justice in extractive industries; consulting in the areas of conflict resolution and public participation for Chilean government agencies; and organizing and advocacy for affordable housing with Latinx communities in South Boston.

Leonardo has a PhD in Human Geography from the University of Sydney, as well as his master’s degree in Human Settlements and the Environment, and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology, from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile.
