Rev. Janet C. Bush

Board Member

The Reverend Janet Bush served the Unitarian Society of Northampton and Florence, Northampton MA beginning in 2009 and retired from full-time ministry in July 2024.  She led the congregation out of a ten-year period with many ministerial transitions and provided steady leadership as it renewed and grew commitment to welcome and to climate justice, racial justice and voting rights.  In 2017 the congregation voted to become a sanctuary congregation.  With help from the greater community, it hosted an immigrant mother in its basement from 2018 – 2021, supported her family, and helped her to establish her own business. Reverend Bush served on the Board of Pioneer Valley Habitat for Humanity (2012-2018), on the Northampton Refugee Steering Team (2015-2017), on the Interfaith Advisory team for Cooley Dickinson VNA and Hospice (2014-2019 and, in Boston, on the Board of Discover Roxbury (2005-2009).

She has a background in finance and administration, primarily through experience in the biotech industry.  She earned her M.Div. from Andover Newton, M.Ed. from Harvard, and Master’s in Management and B.A. from Yale.
