Verdell Wright serves as the writer for the UUSC communications team. They work to create compelling content that informs, engages, and equips. They also develop content and narrative strategies across the teams of the institution.

Verdell received their undergraduate degree in Journalism from Rutgers University. They then went on to earn a Master of Divinity from Howard University and a Master of Theological Studies from Wesley Theological Seminary. During this time, Verdell produced groundbreaking scholarship and writings that challenged theological institutions to truly love everyone in word and deed.Verdell’s communications and advocacy career includes numerous progressive victories over the years, such as securing end-of-life policy wins with Compassion and Choices, training organizers for Faithful America’s first relational organizing and Get Out The Vote programs in 2020, LGBTQ+ policy advocacy with the National LGBTQ Task Force, and steering groundbreaking messaging research for and narrative development with The Green New Deal Network.
