Stop Deportations to Haiti

The U.S. is forcibly removing people to a country in crisis. This must end today.

Despite a raging humanitarian crisis in Haiti—sparked by organized crime and the proliferation of U.S.-made guns—Haitian asylum seekers are still at risk of being deported to the country they fled.

In mid-April, the Biden administration resumed deportation flights to Haiti, sending 74 people on a plane to a regional Haitian airport. The flight included a man who had lived in the United States for decades and is the father of a U.S. citizen child.

A second deportation flight from the U.S. landed in May—despite the outcry of advocates and UN agencies who urged the government to halt these forced removals to danger.

In late June, the Biden administration announced a welcome (if long-overdue) step to extend and redesignate Temporary Protected Status for Haiti. This measure will provide much-needed relief to Haitian nationals who arrived in the U.S. before June 3, 2024.

Temporary Protected Status, however, does not apply to people who entered the country after this date. Asylum-seekers in this category will remain at risk until the U.S. government calls a complete halt to forced removals to Haiti during its time of humanitarian crisis.

Help us call on the Biden administration to end the deportations today. The President should halt all deportation flights to ensure no Haitian nationals are removed to a country in turmoil.
