Kachin Women’s Association Thailand
LOCATION: Chiang Mai, Thailand
The Burmese military has terrorized the country for decades. As a result, Kachin and other communities have endured poverty, healthcare disparities, and a lack of education. Every year, more Kachin refugees come to Thailand seeking safety and a better life. To meet the need and address the hardships, the Kachin Women’s Association Thailand (KWAT) was formed.
The community needs in Kachin have consistently increased. At the same time, the organizations that deliver services need protection in the high-risk situations they find themselves in. UUSC support allows KWAT to upgrade their internal systems while supporting rising overhead costs.
