UUSC

UUSC is in solidarity with communities in Colombia impacted by last week’s 7.4 magnitude earthquake, killing hundreds in the western part of the country. Rescue workers continue to locate missing and injured people, beginning cleanup that has caused massive damage to infrastructure and destroyed thousands of homes.

In this moment of crisis, we want to ensure that no rural communities get overlooked with disaster response resources. We cannot ignore that the epicenter of the earthquake struck villages of Chocó, an area majority made up of Afro-descendant and Indigenous communities.

While we do not have grassroots partners in the area, UUSC staff has family in the region. Our colleague has identified trusted organizations on the ground for our members to provide support. Thank you for your solidarity.

No one should go days without being in contact with their family or fearing for their safety. Please consider making contributions:
