Looking back on 2025, it may be easy to feel overwhelmed by the many relentless attacks on human rights. At the same time, our shared justice work reassures me that a better world is possible.

Every day, my faith in our collective power is strengthened by witnessing the steadfastness of UUSC’s partners. No matter the obstacles before them, they demonstrate that groups of committed, strategic, and deeply caring people can co-create an equitable future for all.

Our partners belong to communities who face seemingly indomitable violence. Fear of state persecution, climate disaster, or other threats could easily inspire individualism. These grassroots leaders instead devote themselves to community care. They know that only connection and collective action can sustainably advance human rights.

We have been taught to organize our lives within political, economic, and social systems that are designed to keep us disconnected. When we are detached from our communities, both locally and globally, we lose our vision. When we reconnect, we remember our collective power. We know our kinship. We thrive, together.

In this season of joyful giving and into the coming new year, may the power of communal care guide our thoughts and actions. When we see our shared humanity and know its potential, our visions for a more just and loving future begin to be realized.

I am thankful for all of UUSC’s steadfast supporters and their ongoing dedication to social justice.

Wishing you a peaceful and joyous holiday season!
