UUSC Condemns Trump Administration’s Attack on Humanitarian Aid

We condemn the attempt to dismantle USAID and call on Congress to uphold human rights.

UUSC is committed to collective liberation. Through our support of grassroots partners, we build a global, interconnected community united in the pursuit of social justice. As an organization devoted to the advancement of human rights, we are troubled by the Trump administration’s attempt to dismantle and disempower the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). This agency has a legacy of providing life-critical humanitarian support. UUSC calls upon Congress to check this unconstitutional abuse of power. We join fellow non-governmental organizations in demanding that U.S. leaders work across bipartisan lines to uphold humanitarian principles, democracy, and human rights.

Our grassroots partners have already reported the devastating impacts of the Trump Administration’s callous decision. From refugee support at the Thai-Burma border to life-saving food assistance in Sudan, this unlawful aid freeze threatens not only lives but also essential human rights work. This administration’s reckless undermining of USAID jeopardizes national security and global stability.

Grassroots organizers utilize the support of both non-governmental organizations and federal agencies in their work to protect communities and advance human rights. UUSC will continue to boldly champion global justice work and we will provide resources for our constituents to take collective action. In the coming weeks, we will launch a campaign to hold this administration accountable. Our commitment to collective liberation has ripple effects, and we remain unwavering in our stance of global solidarity.
