UUSC Response to U.S. Presidential Election Results

We are sending deep care for you and for us. Though we knew that the election of Donald Trump was a very real possibility, we are still experiencing this news as a shock to our bodies and our hearts and our minds.

This outcome will undoubtedly lead to devastating impacts on human rights, democracy, and US foreign influence. We wanted to share that we’ve been preparing for this possible outcome and will be moving quickly with efforts to strengthen networks of care and build grassroots power.

We will be providing community protection and survival grants to organizations serving those most impacted by targeted attacks on their rights based on their identities. We have been working with partners to learn what is needed most, and fastest, and will respond immediately.

You are someone with a vision for and a commitment to human rights for all people. You are a gift. And though the many truths revealed in the U.S. electoral results are heart-breaking and terrifying, we hold many truths, together.

Our work and our vision have not changed. Our values and determination remain strong. We were founded to support communities displaced and oppressed by powerful systems, and together we continue that legacy of confronting injustice today.

In the days ahead, and for the long-term, we will be relying on all our members to continue building grassroots power and strengthening networks of care.
Today, we send you our love and commitment.
